LG Optimus 3D to Strike in the UK in Late May

LG Optimus 3D is, the world’s first Android -powered smartphone to have an auto-stereoscopic 3D display (that means that it doesn’t require any glasses for viewing), alongside dual 5 MP cameras for 3D recording. Even leaving the 3D aspects aside, this is a high-end device, and one that’s sure to be wanted by many smartphone lovers.

Belatedly last month we got word that the Optimus 3D would become available in the UK before the end of April. However, things have changed. LG has told DialToSave that the LG Optimus 3D will in fact be hitting UK shops in “late May”. And that doesn’t seem to be 100% sure either, since the full quote from the LG rep is: “at this stage, it’s looking like a late May launch”.

Let’s hope the Optimus 3D will not get delayed even further. Even if you doubt the usefulness of the 3D tech inside this smartphone, it undoubtedly is great to see such technologies make it into our phones. And, remember, even if you ignore all the 3D bling, it’s one capable smartphone, featuring a dual-core processor, dual-channel controller, dual access to memory, up to 32 GB of storage space, and a 1500 mAh battery. The Optimus 3D will run Android 2.3 Gingerbread upon launch.
