Apple Inc.’s has issued a cease-and-desist letter to wireless-application store operator GetJar in an effort to control its U.S. trademark for the term "App Store."
The letter dated June 22 requested that San Mateo, California-based GetJar stop using "App Store" on its website and everywhere, and stop using the term in the future. Apple lawyers suggested using the terms "mobile download service" or "application download service". GetJar responded to the letter on their Blog at http://blog.getjar.com/developer/getjar-vs-apple/.
