iOS 4.3 Limits Personal Hotspot to Three Wi-Fi Devices

The latest AT&T internal documentation has confirmed the release of iOS 4.3 for the AT&T iPhone 4 on March 11th with Personal Hotspot support, with the catch being that the update and service will limit the service to three Wi-Fi devices while still allowing two devices to be tethered via USB and Bluetooth respectively.

In contrast, Verizon’s iOS version in 4.2.6 allows 5 Wi-Fi devices along with tethering two devices via USB and Bluetooth respectively, suggesting that Apple is artificially limiting the number of Wi-Fi devices in 4.3. While iOS 4.3 has yet to be announced for the Verizon iPhone 4, delayed availability may be due to its testing cycle since it recently released the phone in February.
