20:20 buys German accessories distributor AXXIT GmbH

Company acquires accessories distributor for undisclosed fee, with business renamed as 20:20 Mobile (Germany) GmbH

20:20 Mobile Group has acquired German mobile accessories distributor AXXIT GmbH for an undisclosed fee. The sale comes through the purchase of 100 per cent of the shares of its founder, Robert Penin and managing director Thilo Messmann.

The acquired business will be renamed 20:20 Mobile (Germany) GmbH, and will continue to trade from its current facilities and location in Niederkassel, Germany. Messmann will take on the role of managing director for the company’s accessories business, with Frank Reimann leading 20:20 Mobile’s handsets business in Germany.

20:20 Mobile chief executive Meinie Oldersma (pictured) said: “This investment brings important additional capabilities to the Group’s German operations, allowing us to provide locally-based product supply and logistical services to large and small customers across Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

“Our experience tells us that success depends on having a clear and separate focus on both handset and accessory product categories. Therefore I am delighted that Thilo Messmann has agreed to take on the leadership of our regional accessories business, while Frank Reimann will continue to drive the handset side of the business.”

Messmann said: “We have been in business for just two years, so it is very rewarding to have our success recognised by one of the industry’s leading players in this way. 20:20 Mobile is known as a leader in mobile phone accessories. The backing of such a big Group will give us the power to offer our customers in Germany many more products and services than before. I believe the combination of both accessories and handsets will be very attractive to the market and will be welcomed by all our customers, from the smallest to the largest.”

Reimann added: “We have ambitious growth plans for our handset business in Germany, and the facilities at Niederkassel wil lallow us to operate as a domestic firm in the German market.”
