In fact it’s so so secret, it’s existence was recently unveiled to a Chinese audience by HP CTO Phil McKinney. Yup, those are his hands on the picture clasping the MetaWatch and gesticulating.
Long story short, HP and Fossil (their reps prefer calling it a co-innovation effort) are collaborating on a device aggregator that will allow users to access their manifold gadgets from a single interface, i.e. their watch. By the way, if what we’re looking at on the pic above is the prototype, it sucks. Where’s the ergonomis? Where’s the pizzaz? It looks hella bland!
Anyway, here’s the main man Phil McKinney delivering the goods to a rapt Chinese crowd. Trust us, this is a word for word transcript:
“So this watch is the first generation of what we’re doing as an investigation into this concept of not only the devices you carry in your pocket, but the devices you wear. And in this case this device runs a full software stack, fully integrates with the internet, allows you to carry it with you all the time and allows you to aggregate that information up from the standpoint of being able to connect it, share it, bring it together, but again, act as the integration point for all of the family of devices that you carry with you.”
