SKY Vega S
SKY announced that it would release the “Vega S” (model name: IM-A730S), Korea’s first smart phone of its kind supporting HSPA+, exclusively for SK Telecom. The HSPA+ (High Speed Packet Access+) of SK Telecom, which the “Vega S” is the first to support in Korea, is considered the precursor to the fourth-generation mobile communications technology, boasting data rates of 14.4Mbps. It supports two-times higher data rates than existing technology and provides two-times faster Internet connection and information search.SK Telecom’s HSPA+ enables users to download a file at a maximum of 1.8MB per second, fast enough to download 500MB in about five minutes.
The product has a 1.2GHz super-speed CPU, DDR2 memory, capacitive multi-touch screen with a 4-inch WVGA (800480) display, and Android 2.2 OS, providing ultra-high Internet speed. Qualcomm’s second-generation Snapdragon, 1.2GHz MSM8225 Turbo, is the best processor available, twice as fast as its predecessor (1GHz) in 3D speed and 10% more energy efficient.
In addition, the “Vega S” provides high-definition (HD) video calling and terrestrial digital multimedia broadcasting (T-DMB), and has a 5 mega-pixel camera with auto focus (AF). It is also equipped with a gyro sensor to detect angular changes, enabling users to experience immersive applications realistically such as augmented reality (AR) games that move up and down & left and right.
Upholding the design philosophy of the Vega, the “Vega S” maximizes portability with compact size and light weight and increases usability by a user-friendly design. Despite the 4-inch display, it is light on the wrists of users with a weight of only 119.5 grams and provides the supreme grip feeling with the streamlined back cover design feature of SKY smart phones.
The “Vega S” has four color options: white, black, pink, and brown gold. White and black are offered first, and pink and brown gold will be released in stages starting in March. The “Vega S” will be offered at around KRW900,000.
