The first PlayStation phone, you know the one, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play has now apparently partnered the world’s largest professional video gaming league, Major League Gaming to become their official smartphone.
According to an article over on Mobile Syrup, as part of the new sponsorship the Android 2.3 Gingerbread packing Sony Ericsson Xperia Play is to be present at each of the six Major league Gaming Pro Circuit (US only dates apparently) events, and ” will feature demonstrations, game challenges and giveaways.”
The Head of Marketing for North America, Sony Ericsson, Peter Farmer says, “Sony Ericsson is redefining mobile gaming with Xperia™ PLAY. It’s designed to give you everything you need from a fully featured smartphone and the one thing you want–the ultimate mobile gaming experience. We know that Major League Gaming’s community of gamers will put that gaming experience to the ultimate test and we’re looking forward to connecting with this highly engaged global community.”
Furthermore Sony Ericsson will also sponsor two gamers, MGL coach Andy “JT Bravo” Dudynsky, and Dave “Walshy” Walsh for the 2011 season.
Any of our readers hoping to snap up the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play so they can get some PlayStation gaming action on?
