Following AT&T’s Lead, Verizon Makes Japan Calls Free Until April
In light of the recent tragedy, AT&T is offering free calls to the Japan up until March 31st. Now, Verizon has followed suit and is allowing most of their wireless and residential subscribers the same privilege albeit longer, up until April 10th to be exact. For post-paid subscribers, they’re also getting free SMS and MMS to Japan as well during the same period.

New Xperia Play Ad Shows Where the Android Got Its Thumbs From [Video]
As a follow up to their first Xperia Play commercial, Sony Ericsson has released a new one. This time, it’s less disturbing but equally intriguing, revealing where those thumbs came from. The Xperia Play is confirmed coming to Canada via Rogers though pricing and exact release date are both still yet to be known.

Nokia Windows Phone 7 concept

Nokia’s first Windows Phone device due in 2012, says report
If you’re one of those folks holding off on purchasing a new phone until the first Nokia Windows Phone 7 handset gets released, you’re in for a might long wait. According to a report, this milestone device won’t be available until 2012. This was the conclusion made after Nokia India’s Managing Director D. Shivakumar was quoted as saying their Nokia Windows Phone 7 handset’s ETA is “roughly 12 months from now.” If true, this contradicts earlier reports that one will actually debut this year. Which of the two is true? Only time will tell, and I guess you already know what we’re hoping for.

Apple reportedly tells carriers iPhone 5 won’t have NFC
It’s been largely rumored that the iPhone 5 will come with NFC support. With Android 2.3 and BlackBerry 6.1 now supporting this feature, it only makes sense that Apple will too. Well, in true Apple fashion, they’re against the grain, and apparently not going to do so. They will, instead, offer an alternative to the technology citing the “lack of a clear standard across the industry” as one of the reasons they opted not to join the NFC bandwagon.

The City Koodo Unlimited plan comes with unlimited calling, unlimited messaging, unlimited local family calling, and the best part, no zones. Solo Mobile, Fido, Public Mobile, and Wind all have their own $35 unlimited plans, and Koodo is just the news kid on the block.
