As reported here on Cell Phones Etc. and across the Web, here’s your daily brief on what happened in the world of mobile phones this Wednesday, May 18th, 2011.
HTC Bresson equals WP 7.5 and 16 megapixel camera
Remember that HTC 16-megapixel phone we mentioned last month? Well, it now has a name – the HTC Bresson – and it’s coming to T-Mobile. This info is courtesy of a leaked roadmap. And thanks to this leak, we also now know that this megapixel monster camera phone from HTC will run on Window 7 Mango build and is scheduled for release not earlier than October. That’s about it for now, but we’re guessing this WP7 phone will also come equipped with at least a 1GHz processor.

Pantech cooks up world’s first 1.5 GHz dual-core phone, tablet in the works
Korea’s got another record in the books. LG scored the title as being the first to launch a dual-core smartphone, and now, Pantech’s taking it to the next level with the first 1.5GHz dual-core powered handset – the Vega Racer. Apart from its speedy processor, this also boasts of an 8-megapixel camera ’round the back, a 1.3-megapixel camera on the front, and 1GB RAM all housed in a svelte 9mm body. Not bad, eh? Its doubtful, though, that the Vega Raccer will be made available elsewhere except Korea.

With iPhone 4S on the horizon, Apple to slow iPhone 4 shipments
According to DigiTimes, Apple has revised their previous order for 20 million iPhone 4 units for Q2, and lowered it to just 17.5-18 million units. This is, reportedly, in anticipation for the new iPhone, the iPhone 4S, which will supposedly begin production in August. Based on the same report, the iPhone 4S will feature an 8-megapixel camera, and will be available in two variants – GSM and CDMA. It’s been a hit and miss affair with DigiTimes so we’re not yet fully sold on this one, but this does sound very plausible, especially since its consistent with what we’ve been hearing so far. More on this soon.
