Today’s Mobile News in Brief (May 23, 2011)

As reported here on Cell Phones Etc. and across the Web, here’s your daily brief on what happened in the world of mobile phones this Monday, May 23rd, 2011.

Droid 3 details leaked: dual-core processor, 4-inch qHD screen, no LTE?
So, what’s next for the Droid series? Well, according to TechnoBuffalo, the Droid 2 will sport a 4-inch qHD display, and will come packed with a dual-core under the hood, an 8-megapixel cam ’round the back, a front-facing camera, and will presumably run on Gingerbread. But unlike Verizon’s recent releases, this won’t come with LTE support. Of course, this is still pending confirmation. So just treat this as a heads-up on what to expect with the new Motorola Droid.

iPhone 5 to feature curved glass display according to rumor
It looks like the new design trend nowadays is curved glass as rumor has it that Apple will soon be following in the footsteps of the Nexus S and the HTC Sensation with their own sexy glass touchscreen for the iPhone. Again, we’re taking this one with a bit of salt given where this bit of news if coming from, Digitimes, but this is definitely plausible. And let’s face it, there’s only so much you can do to a relatively flat device with minimal physical buttons. So going the curved-glass route is probably already a given in the design evolution of the touchscreen phone.
