French to leave HTC UK, Ireland and South Africa role

Executive director for the UK, Ireland and South Africa promoted to role of vice president of sales and operations in EMEA as part of shake up of senior team in the region

HTC executive director for the UK, Ireland and South Africa Jon French is to leave his role and move to the position of vice president of sales and operations in EMEA. HTC is in the process of replacing French, who will retain responsibility of the position until a successor is in place.

French will now be responsible for the development of HTC’s supply and sales channels across EMEA, in addition to overseeing the company’s partnership with The Carphone Warehouse and Best Buy Europe.

Meanwhile Stefan Streit has been appointed as vice president of marketing and retail in EMEA and succeeds Vladimir Malugin, who has assumed the role of HTC executive director for the Middle Ease and Africa. Streit will be responsible for HTC’s marketing and retail programmes within EMEA.

Prior to joining HTC, he held the roles of vice president of marketing in EMEA at Sony Ericsson and chief marketing officer of BWIN Interactive Entertainment.

HTC president for EMEA Florian Seiche said: “With smartphone sales gorwing more than 70 per cent in 2010, Stefan and Jon are strengthening the team at a crucial time.”
