Nokia N9 to sport Intel 1.2GHz CPU, 12-MP camera?

Here’s the latest on the long-rumored almost-forgotten Nokia N9.

Nokia N9

Word is Nokia’s newest flagship phone will follow in the footsteps of RIM’s leaked 2011 offerings (Torch 2, Dakota). No, it won’t run on BlackBerry OS 6.1, but rather, sport a 1.2GHz processor under the hood too. However, it won’t be just any mobile processor. We hear it’ll be one from Intel. Too good to be true? Yes, but if you’ll recall, Nokia and Intel entered into a partnership not so long ago. That joint venture was to develop MeeGo, but who’s to say it won’t spill over to hardware as well?

Other rumored specs include a 12-megapixel camera similar to the Nokia N8, and last but certainly not the least, LTE connectivity. We’re still not sure about its OS, whether it’ll be Symbian^3 or MeeGo, but we’d like to think it’ll be more of the latter than the former especially since they released a statement last year divulging that MeeGo will be the new OS of choice for their Nseries.

Anyway, with MWC just around the corner, we’ll probably be hearing more about this new Nokia touchscreen QWERTY slider phone in the coming days.
