Confirming what we’ve feared, the Android Community has gotten word from Sony Ericsson that there will indeed be no Froyo update for their first Android handset, the XPERIA X10, and its siblings, the X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro.
They will still be rolling out updates for the X10 family such as one that will introduce multi-touch functionality, but nothing as major as the Android 2.2.
Needless to say, if you want to enjoy Froyo or Gingerbread for that matter on a Sony Ericsson handset, you’re left with no recourse but install it yourself using an unofficial ROM, or buy the new XPERIA arc, which, in my opinion, is the better move given all the new treats it comes with.
