Distributor will supply Huawei devices to channels across Europe and the Nordic region
Huawei has signed a pan-European frame work agreement with Crewe based distributor 20:20 Mobile.
The agreement will see 20:20 supply Huawei smartphones, tablets, dongles and mobile Wi-Fi hotspots to both specialist and non-specialist channels across Europe and the Nordic region.
The deal is significant for 20:20 as it comes on the back of Huawei’s recent announcement that it will introduce a range of its own branded smartphones and tablets later this year.
Huawei is currently seen predominately as an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) supplying operators such as Vodafone with handsets that they then sell under their own brand.
Speaking about the deal Huawei device vice president Wang Jiading said the agreement would allow Huawei to establish itself amongst the leading smartphone manufacturers.
“Europe is a vitally important market for Huawei going forward,” Jiading said.
“Huawei will launch a range of high-end smartphones and tablets under its own brand in 2011, and it is crucial for us to partner with a distributor who can expand our retail channels, and add real value to our proposition in the process.
“We selected 20:20 Mobile for its long track record and its leading expertise in supply and logistics in the handset and accessories market.”
20:20 Mobile chief executive Meinie Oldersma said Huawei’s ambition in the market made it an exciting company to work with.
“Its [Huawei's] ambition for its brand in the smartphone and tablet markets is considerable,” Oldersma said.
“Its research and development resource and partnership-approach will distinguish it in the market as it moves forward. We are delighted to join with it at this exciting stage in the development of its portfolio and brand in Europe.”
