Battlefield 3 fans have been enraged this week with the announcement by EA the they will be releasing a ”Physical Warfare” Pack to Battlefield 3 gamers who pre-order their copies of Battlefield 3 through physical retailers GAME and Gamestation in the UK.
If you pre-order your game through these channels and physically walk in to the shop to collect your game on launch day you will be rewarded with an array of new weapons unavailable to players who have pre-orders through digital download game suppliers and the like.
EA described the new “Physical Warfare” Pack content as:
Weapons and items only available in the Physical Warfare Pack including the Type 88 light machine gun with bipod for superior firepower and total zone control, the SKS sniper rifle flash suppressor that provides increased stealth abilities for Recon soldiers, and the lethal armour-piercing flechette ammo for the DAO-12 semi-automatic shotgun that is sure to tear through anything in its path. Also included is day one access to the highly versatile DAO-12 semi-automatic shotgun itself.
The arming of gamers from day one through physical shops pre-orders and giving them a clear advantage over other players on the first day of release has not gone down well with gamers and fans of the game looking to purchase their copy through Steam or other digital download stores.
Maybe EA will see the light and make the offer available to all gamers who pre-order the game ahead of the launch day. As we hear more we will keep you updated.
