O2 Media bolsters management team

Nick Pestell joins O2′s Media business as head of agency sales, the same role he previously held at Yahoo!

O2 has bolstered its Media team with the appointment of Nick Pestell as head of agency sales. It’s the same role Pestell previously held at Yahoo!.

Pestell (pictured) will work closely with O2 Media commercial director Gary Cole and will be responsible for managing agency sales for the business, which will see him work with media agencies and clients to ensure mobile is effectively utilised in their media plans.

Pestell joins with eleven years of digital media experience and has worked for the likes of Media Planning Group, Agency Republic, Ninemsn and finally Yahoo! UK.

Recently O2 Media announced its personalised service, O2 More, had amassed two million customers since its launch in November 2009. O2 Media has also now signed up over 1,000 brands since launch.

The opt-in service matches preference information customers give to O2 with data the network holds on those customers, such as phone usage and location, delivering personalised campaigns for advertisers. Last October location-based targeting was added to the service.

Cole said: “Our key agency partners are now investing heavily in mobile solutions and it is becoming a hugely important part of client’s media plans. Nick’s experience can help agencies get the very best out of O2 More.”

Pestell said: “At O2 Media we have enormous potential to work with agencies and clients, testing new ways in which to reach, inspire and understand customers. There is a genuine desire amongst agencies to further explore the benefits and prove the effectiveness of the channel, which provides pinpoint accuracy on a mass scale.”
