HTC Desire Android 2.3 Gingerbread Oxygen ROM Available

For anyone who owns an HTC Desire smartphone and wants a taste of the latest Android OS albeit unofficially, it appears that a custom ROM of Android 2.3 Gingerbread has become available to download.

According to an article over on Know your mobile, the hacking guys of XDA-developers have made the “Oxygen v2.0-RC7 custom ROM” available to download and install to your HTC Desire although the download does come with the usual warning of you do so at your own risk.

The Oxygen v2.0-RC7 custom ROM features Android v2.3.2, which was built from AOSP and is apparently mostly bug free, and is apparently super fast although minimal.

If you do wish to install this custom ROM onto your HTC Desire, you will apparently require Amon-RA/ClockworkMod recovery to flash the ROM. And they do say that the Oxygen ROM isn’t a mod or port of any HTC/CyanogenMod or any other ROM, is basic and minimalistic and thus may not be for everyone.

Having said that, if you are into tinkering with your device on an unofficial level and do download and install the custom ROM feel free to let us know how it goes and if you experience any problems.
